Data-driven CRO (Conversion Rate Optimization) is the process of improving a website or eCommerce store’s conversion rate by using actual user data, analytics, and testing results rather than relying mainly on assumptions or opinions.

In B2B eCommerce, data-driven CRO can analyze:

    • Conversion rates: Identify pages or steps where users drop off.
    • User behavior: Study clicks, searches, navigation, scrolling, and product interactions.
    • Sales data: Analyze orders, AOV, repeat purchases, and customer segments.
    • Funnel data: Identify friction in account creation, RFQs, approvals, checkout, or payment.
    • A/B testing: Compare different page designs, CTAs, layouts, or content.
    • Customer feedback: Combine surveys, support requests, and usability feedback with quantitative data.

For example, analytics may show that many B2B buyers visit a product page but leave before submitting an RFQ. Testing a more visible RFQ button and clearer product specifications can help determine whether those changes improve conversions.

The goal is not simply to collect data, but to use evidence to identify problems, test changes, and measure their impact. Data quality, sufficient sample sizes, and appropriate testing methods are important because correlation or short-term changes do not necessarily prove that a CRO change caused the improvement.
