What is the 40-40-20 rule in marketing?

  • 0

It’s Ed Mayer’s classic direct-response principle that explains what drives campaign success. It states that 40% of your results come from targeting the right audience, 40% from having a compelling offer, and 20% from your creative execution (copy, design, visuals, etc.). In other words, who you’re targeting and what you’re offering matter far more than how polished your ad looks.

Many marketers overemphasize creative, but even great ads fail with the wrong audience or a weak offer. So, stop obsessing over fonts and focus on what you’re selling and who you’re selling to, then make it look good.

If you want to see how this applies in real marketing strategy planning, this page explains it quite well: https://thinkpixa.com/strategy/
