Best Preparation Tips for Diagnostic Tests – Doctor’s Advice

The right preparation plays an important role in producing diagnostic reports that are accurate and trustworthy. Below is the list of major prior-to-tests tips, as recommended by physicians:

1. Fasting directions must be strictly followed
In the case of fasting being required for the test (like in sugar tests, lipid profiles, or certain full-body packages), not eating should be done for 8-12 hours. You can only have water.

2. Keep drinking water
Unless otherwise specified, drink a lot of water. It is a good thing as it facilitates blood collection and also helps to get better results.

3. Caffeine, alcohol, and smoking should all be avoided
All these substances can change the values of heart rate, blood sugar, liver enzymes, and the results of other tests. They should not be taken for a day before the test.

4. No heavy workouts
Heavy exercise can have a negative impact on muscle enzymes, blood pressure, and stress hormones. Get a good sleep before the test.

5. Take or skip medicines only if instructed
Some medicines interfere with thyroid, sugar, or clotting tests. Always consult your doctor before stopping any medication.

6. Dress in a comfortable manner
This is especially true for ECG, ultrasound, X-ray, or stress tests. Wearing loose clothing will make the process smoother.

7. Previous reports should be brought
For accurate assessment, doctors compare new results with past values.

8. Take it easy
Stressful situations can result in high Bp, heart rate, and even thyroid readings. So, you should arrive early and be composed.

At Chandan Diagnostic Centre Patna, your health and trust matter most. We strive every day to bring excellence, accuracy, and care to your healthcare journey.
