An identity provider (IdP) is a service that verifies a user’s identity and manages authentication, allowing users to sign in securely to websites or applications. Examples include Okta, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Google Identity, and Auth0. In Shopify, an identity provider can be used for single sign-on (SSO) and centralized customer authentication in supported setups.
