    Yes. Third-party domains can connect to Shopify without transferring their registration to Shopify.

    A merchant can keep the domain registered with a provider such as a domain registrar and connect it to Shopify by configuring the required DNS records.

    This allows merchants to:

    • Use a custom domain for their Shopify storefront
    • Keep domain registration with their existing provider
    • Configure Shopify as the destination for web traffic
    • Continue using third-party services such as email hosting, provided the relevant DNS records remain configured

    Connection and transfer are different: connecting changes the domain’s DNS configuration, while transferring moves the domain’s registration to Shopify.
