Yes. Indian merchants can use Shopify POS, but there is an important limitation.
Shopify POS is available in India for managing in-person sales, products, inventory, customers, orders, and reporting, but Shopify Payments is not currently available in India. Because of that, Shopify’s official card readers and some payment hardware features are not supported in the same way they are in countries where Shopify Payments is available.
In India, merchants commonly use Shopify POS to:
Record in-store sales
Manage inventory across online and offline channels
Create customer profiles
Apply discounts
Process returns
Send digital receipts
Track sales and reports
For payment acceptance, Indian merchants typically use supported third-party payment providers or manual payment methods (cash, UPI, bank transfer, etc.), depending on their setup.
So, Shopify POS works in India, but payment hardware and certain payment-processing features depend on the payment provider available in the Indian market.
