Scroll depth analysis is the process of measuring and interpreting how far visitors scroll down a webpage to understand which parts of the page they reach and where they stop engaging.

    It can help businesses analyze:

    • Content engagement: Determine whether visitors reach important sections.
    • Drop-off points: Identify where users commonly stop scrolling.
    • CTA visibility: Check whether users reach buttons such as Buy Now, Request a Quote, or Contact Us.
    • Page structure: Determine whether important information is positioned too far down the page.
    • Content effectiveness: Compare how different pages or sections perform.
    • CRO opportunities: Develop hypotheses for improving page layout and content.

For example, a B2B product page may contain product specifications, pricing information, customer reviews, and an RFQ form near the bottom. If most visitors leave before reaching the RFQ form, scroll depth analysis may indicate that the form or other important information should be made more accessible.

Scroll depth is usually measured at percentages or predefined points, such as 25%, 50%, 75%, and 90% of a page. However, scrolling alone does not prove that visitors read or understood the content. It should therefore be analyzed alongside conversion rates, engagement data, heatmaps, session recordings, and user feedback.
